Regulation Changes Ahead

14 Jan 2009

The revision to Building Regulations within England and Wales will start the year and last for three months.

The revision to Building Regulations within England and Wales with the publication of the consultation documents for Approved Document L Conservation of fuel and power and Approved Document F Ventilation will start the year and last for three months.

By March the GGF will know if the Construction Products Regulation has been approved by Brussels, this will replace the old Construction Products Directive. This will mean CE Marking within the whole of the European Economic Area (including UK) will be mandatory from 1st July 2010.

All manufacturers of construction products which are covered by the scope of a harmonised standard will need to CE mark their products; this will affect basic glass products, processed glass, IGUs, windows and doors. If and when the European Parliament has approved this, the GGF will start educating members as to what they must do to continue trading.

In the last quarter of 2009 the new approved Documents Part L and F are due for publication affording the first opportunity to see what has been included within the revised regulations. Implementation will not be until April 2010.
